General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Asiedu Nketia says the Media have always justify and treat with no seriousness attacks on individuals by members of the ruling New Patriotic Party.
General Mosquito as affectionately called in politics says he finds it strange why the media is now treating an attack on their colleague with much seriousness.
“So is the media working for themselves or for the people?” he questioned NEAT FM’s morning show host Mc-Jerry Osei Agyemang.
His query comes on the heels of criticism against the government following an attack on a journalist of the Multimedia Group by a staunch supporter of the NPP.
Hajia Fati has been accused of attacking an Adom FM journalist who was covering an event at the NPP’s headquarters as the party’s suspended Second National Vice Chairman, Sammy Crabbe, went to pick his nomination forms.
Controversial Hajia Fati punched Ohemaa Sekyiwaa as she tried taking pictures of her at the party’s headquarters.
Speaking on the issue on NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’, Asiedu Nketia noted that “I have always complained about this brutality on individuals and this same Adom FM journalists will tell me it has been happening during Mahama’s time so it’s nothing new”
“ . . so is this the first time a journalist has been beaten here in Ghana? They should wait, next time the attack will greet them in their studios if that is what they want. We must condemned and address with seriousness all forms of attack either on mere citizens, politicians or journalists,” he added.
