Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has launched a fierce attack on the Mahama administration, accusing the government of plunging Ghanaians into worsening hardship and suppressing dissenting voices.

In a report by 3news.com on May 28, 2026, Ahiagbah stated that many Ghanaians are now struggling with rising taxes, levies, dumsor, and increasing attacks on free speech under President John Dramani Mahama’s administration.

Reacting in a post on X, Ahiagbah questioned whether the current state of the country reflects the “reset agenda” promised by the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“Under President Mahama, Ghanaians face higher taxes and levies, endure dumsor, get used to midnight arrests of dissenters or critics, witness the steady decline of free speech in Ghana as we know it, and watch the President’s brother acquire gold mines across the country. This is the State of the Nation. Is this the RESET you voted for?” he wrote.

In another strongly-worded post, Ahiagbah described the arrest of some NPP activists over comments made on social media as oppressive and dangerous for Ghana’s democracy.

His comments followed the arrest of TikTok personality Akosua Serwah Minat over an alleged threat against President Mahama.

“President, you inherited a democracy and have turned it into a tyranny, a cruel, oppressive, and unfair abuse of government power. It is shameful. Very shameful. Extremely shameful,” Ahiagbah added.
