Mr Isaac Hayes, renowned African-American singer of the 1970s, will this coming Sunday, 9th August, present a cheque for 10,000 dollars for the construction of a training centre for the people of Ada in the Greater Accra Region.
The centre, to be known as the Nene Katey Ocansey the first Technological Centre of Excellence (Nekotech), will apply the world acclaimed Ron Hubbard's Study Technology, which makes learning easier and enables its users to become successful in their chosen careers. Mr Hayes who has been enstooled the nominal chief for development of the Ada traditional area under the stool name of Nene Katey Ocansey I, will present the cheque during the ground breaking ceremony for the institute at the Ada Secondary School.
The ceremony will coincide with the Asafotufiami (firing of musketry) festival of the chiefs and people of Ada. Mr Hayes told a press conference today that literacy is the most important thing Africa needs, saying the study technology is the key to effective learning and the key to growth in the proficiency of the work force.
Mr Hayes, popularly known as Black Moses, noted that Ghanaians have a very high work ethics and said the study technology will enable the country's development efforts to become "easier, more precise and effective.
He revealed that 52 teachers have already signed up for the study technology training programme and that the centre will be opened by the middle of May next year. Bearded and bald, Isaac Hayes featured in more than 28 feature films and television shows in America during the civil rights era, singing songs of freedom for the black race. He is one of the trailblazers for today's successful young songwriters, singers and movie actors and currently a radio presenter in the United States.
