Brakwa (C/R), Nov. 10, GNA- The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa, Mr Sampson Kwame Anfoko, has said education is the key to national development and any attempt to relegate it to the background will not be in the interest of the nation. This is the more reason why governments all over the world allocate a chunk of their national budget to education of which Ghana is no exception.

The DCE said this on Sunday at the first open day celebration of Brakwa-Kokoso Islamic Primary and JSS Schools established in 1983 at Brakwa.

Mr Anfako appealed to the parents to spend on their children's education rather than funerals and entertainments.

The DCE promised 50 bags of cement for the rehabilitation of a Kindergarten in the town.

Mr Stephen Gattagoe, an Assistant Director of Education, said the Ghana Education Service (GES) had attached officers at some special schools for effective supervision and monitoring of teaching and learning as well as discipline.

The Headmistress of Breman Asikuma Secondary School Miss Comfort Akomanyin stressed the importance of girl child education and appealed to parents to provide learning and teaching materials needed for their children's education on time.

The Central regional Manager of the Islamic Education Unit, Alhaji Abudu Salam, appealed to parents to support and co-operate with Islamic Schools for their children's education.
