Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, H. E. Ami Mehl, has argued that universities in Israel offer the best education worldwide.
He supported his argument with claims that renowned professors, including Professor Joseph Aryee, had their higher education in Israeli universities.
H. E. Ami Mehl explained that, “Professor Joseph Aryee got his PhD in the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He’s not the only one that we know here in Ghana. There are several medical doctors that studied in Israel. The idea is to get high quality skills in Israel. We have the advantage of having a very vivid and high quality education system in Israel.”
In an interview with Ghanaweb.com, the Ambassador admitted that Israel suffers brain drain since graduates tend to study abroad in order to add to their acquired knowledge.
“We suffer as well from brain drain because the universities are good and people would like to continue their studies. They don’t always have the possibility to do it in Israel and they have to study abroad. It is in most of the cases, improving your skills because you see things from a different point of view,” H. E. Ami Mehl added.
He also encouraged Ghanaians to seek higher education in Israel as ‘Israel has all the solutions’ to Ghana’s problems.
“All the problems that we have in Israel, we can share the solutions with you. We can share the solutions by selling it to you or teaching Ghanaians in our universities. You choose what you prefer. If you study in Israel, you learn the possibilities of solving many problems of Ghana. You come here, you open your business. It will be cheaper and more profitable for Ghanaians to do so”, he said.
