Issa, UWR, Oct. 27, GNA - The chiefs and people of the Issa Traditional Council have organised a durbar to express their gratitude to President John Atta Mills and the government for creating a new district out of the Nadowli District for them.

Addressing the durbar, Mr. Clement M. Diibudong, Acting Secretary of the Issa Traditional Council, said the people were happy that Issa had been elevated as the district capital and assured the Government of their cooperation and support to 93nurse this new baby to grow and become the cornerstone of the region".

"We would provide a peaceful environment for all workers who would be posted to come and work in the District and as well as provide land free of charge to the Government for infrastructural development," Mr. Diibudong assured.

Mr. Diibudong appealed to development partners and other stakeholders to make Issa their hub of business while he also called on its sons and daughters to pool resources and expertise to help the Government to develop the district.

"Our new district is like fresh eggs put on a table; all must work hard and look for fire for us to cook the eggs so that when they fall, they would not break and go to waste," he advised.

He called on the youth to take advantage of the new district to create wealth for themselves and stop migrating to other cities to look for non-existing jobs.

The durbar was characterized by drumming and dancing amidst praise singing as well as jubilation by the people with some of them carrying placards which read: 93President Mills, you are a father indeed." 93You have wiped away our tears with the creation of a new district which we have treasured for a long time now".

"We thank President Mills for bringing the Better Ghana train to Issa and its catchments." 93May the good Lord bless the President, the Vice and the entire government".
