The Amakomhene of Kumasi in the Ashanti region, Nana Adu Mensah Asare, has taken a swipe at the practices of some men of God and has called for sanity. The traditional ruler described as ‘’madness’ the practice where some prophets and pastors give out lotto numbers to congregants.

The current crop of prophets and men of God in the country today he lamented is tarnishing the image of God hence the need for senior men of God in the country to advice upcoming men of God in the country.

Representing the Overlord of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfour Osei Tutu at the 50th anniversary of the Grace Baptist Church in Kumasi today [Sunday], Nana Adu Mensah challenged renowned men of God in the country to coach young men of God so they will not indulge in ungodly practices.

He said, ‘’the church is doing well for the country but latter day preachers and prophets are denigrating the church. What they are doing today is bad. When you watch TV and listen to radio, you will be shocked at what is going on. We have pastors who give out lotto numbers on radio and On TV.

This is absolute madness, it is disheartening. I will appeal to the church to help address this challenge.’’ He also expressed dismay about the situation in the country where politicians influence serial callers to phone in political programs on various radio stations to insult leaders of this country, a situation he described as unfortunate and undemocratic.

"I know that, most of these serial callers belong to churches in the country and so, I will encourage the church to instill discipline in them to stop these undemocratic acts," he added. He thanked the church for their uncounted contributions given the community in terms of education, water and health.
