The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Subin, Eugene Boakye Antwi, has refused to state whether the ‘Agyapadie’ document, a supposed master plan of the Akyem faction within his party, is fictional, as many members of the party have asserted.
Speaking in an interview with Oyerepa TV on August 14, 2024, the Subin legislator indicated that some of the things stated in the document appeared to have transpired, and it is not for him to determine whether the book was written in 2016 or not.
He asserted that people whose names were mentioned in the book should be concerned about it and defend their names.
“My view is that the people who were implicated should come and address it. My name was not mentioned, and so if you ask me, I wouldn’t know what to say. Some names were mentioned, those who are behind it and all that have been mentioned. So, this has nothing to do with me.
“Because the president’s name was mentioned, he came to speak about it. My name was not in the book, and so it would not be proper if I spoke about it. If my name was in the book and I’m asked about it, then I can explain myself,” he said in Twi.
He added, “If someone writes his document and some say it is fictional, the jury is still out. It is not what I believe. They are saying the ‘Agyapadie’ is fictional, let us wait and see. Some of the things in it have already happened. Whether the person wrote the book in 2016 and the things in it are happening or if he did not, I’m saying that it is not for me, Yaw Boakye, to state whether it is fictional or not.”
About the Agyapadie document:
The document, which was forwarded to the Okyenhene Ofori Panin, contained plans of the Akyem faction to maintain control of the NPP.
In its ‘Table of Contents,’ the book breaks down the various aspects of Ghanaian life that the cabal, dubbed the ‘Akyem Mafia,’ intended to control, making the rest of the country compliant to the dictates of the selected Akyem.
From chieftaincy to the economy, politics, and all aspects of Ghanaian society, the book outlines a detailed plan by the supposed Akyems to establish total dominance and ensure that the running of the country is done at their beck and call.
The book predicts key events in the country, including changes in leadership at the Social Security and National Insurance Trust, the collapse of indigenous Ghanaian banks and financial institutions, and the deliberate and conscious positioning of the Okyenhene as the most powerful chieftaincy institution in the country, among others.
In the religious sphere, certain powerful and popular men of God who were seen as opponents of the regime were going to be targeted and destroyed, while those believed to be in favour of the government were going to be supported.
Meanwhile, the Stool Secretary of the Ofori Panin Stool and Secretary to the Okyenhene, Daniel Marfo Ofori-Atta, has filed a lawsuit against Hopeson Adorye and Media General.
The lawsuit alleges defamation following remarks made by Hopeson Adorye on a platform operated by Media General, which includes Onua TV and Onua FM.
Ofori-Atta, who oversees all correspondence and public affairs for the Okyenhene and the Akyem Abuakwa State Council, is demanding GH¢10 million in damages, an apology, and a perpetual injunction against further defamatory statements.
