Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has denied reports that President Akufo-Addo has condemned the $200M new parliamentary chamber.

The Daily Statesman had reported that the President opposed the project.

“The President is intent on ensuring that the government focuses on its priority projects – roads, education and training, agriculture, rural development, water, and housing. The proposal for this building project hasn’t even come to cabinet for discussion, let alone been given cabinet approval," the newspaper reported.

However, speaking on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said there is no information to that effect from the Presidency.

"I don't believe that will be true . . . I have not seen any brief to that effect . . . I know that Parliament being a seperate and independent arm of government, it will be difficult for the president to intervene," he told Nana Yaw Kesse.
