It's a 'big lie': I haven’t quit politics - Bugri Naabu

Contrary to earlier report in some section of the media that Mr. Daniel Bugri Naabu had quit politics, the former Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, has come out to correct the erroneous statement and given a stronger indication that he is still into active politics to ensure his party breaks the eight year Presidential cycle.

It was reported by MyNewsGh.com that the former Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was officially quitting politics as he is set to be enskinned as a chief.

According to them, Bugri Naabu who is a member of NPP’s Council of Elders is also expected to abdicate his position after the enskinment as it will be in variance with provisions of the 1992 constitution where chiefs are barred from taking part in active partisan politics.

But in an interview with Peacefmonline.com on the matter, Mr. Bugri Naabu, noted that the earlier report “is big disgusting lie” and added that he would be actively involved in the daily activities of the NPP.

He was quick to add that he would never pull out of helping President Akufo-Addo to complete his eight year tenure successfully and has always been there for his part till date.

“I will be actively involved in ensuring that Nana Akufo-Addo wins for the second term and hands over to Dr. Bawumia. I won’t stop being helping the NPP and quit politics because I am going to be enskinned as a chief.

My good works in my town has paid off and the good people I live with have seen that making me a chief would make our town great. It is for this reason that they have chosen to make me their King. This stage I have reached in life wouldn’t make me quit politics, I am still a politician and my mandate is to make the NPP stay in power and break the eight year presidential cycle,” he said.

On Saturday, June 29, 2019, Mr. Daniel Bugri Naabu would be enskinned as a chief in his hometown. He would be enskinned as chief of Namong with the skin name, Namong Lana II by the Overlord of the Mamprugu Traditional Area, Nayiri Naa Boahigu Mahami Abdulai Shriga II at his palace.
