Some elders of Gbese have called the bluff of people calling on their Chief, Nii Ayi Bonte II to abdicate is stool over comments he made suggesting he would step down if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) loses the 2016 elections.

Addressing the press at the Gbese Mantse Palace in Accra, Friday, Nii Ayi Ardayfia II, who spoke on behalf of the elders stated emphatically that, Nii Ayi Bonte II - committed no crime by declaring his support for the NDC because he was not the only Chief who has openly declared his support for a political party in the history of Ghana.

“It is not a crime to support a political party whose policies one admires at a point in time… Is Nii Ayi Bonte the only Chief who has declared his support for a political party? Certainly no. Examples abound,” said.

Nii Ayi Ardayfia II has asked the general public to ignore comments from some residents and 'Gbese Dzase' projecting the Gbese Mantse as a criminal and violent person.

“Nii Ayi Bonte is not violent but a peaceful man,” he noted.

The elders have, therefore, called on the media and public to refrain from denigrating the personality of their Chief, as the Kingmakers take appropriate customary measures to address the issue at hand.
