Controversies surrounding the death of the late Samuel Aboagye, a former Deputy Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) who died in the August 6, 2025 Ghana Armed Forces helicopter crash, have dragged some lawmakers into the spotlight amid heated social media discussions and ongoing legal issues.
The matter revolves around the family of the late Samuel Aboagye, who has taken his widow, Mrs Abigail Aboagye, to the Obuasi District Court, demanding a DNA test over alleged suspicions of an affair with an unnamed Member of Parliament (MP) from the Ashanti Region.
According to reports, Mrs Aboagye has refused to hand over their three-year-old child for the DNA test.
Several media sources, including a statement from Nana Kwabena Gyamera Oyiakwan II, Chief of Adansi Kwapia and elder brother of the late Samuel Aboagye, allege that the widow may have had a “close friendship” with the said MP.
The family insists on conducting a DNA test to confirm the paternity of the child.
Following these revelations, social media users have launched an online “hunt” to uncover the identity of the alleged MP, with many pointing fingers at various lawmakers from the Ashanti Region.
Amid the heated speculation, two MPs from the region have made social media posts that have since gone viral, sparking mixed reactions.

Vincent Ekow Assafuah, Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, posted on social media, “Why are people calling and texting me like I’m the only Kumasi MP in Ghana? Please oo, I’m just here eating my waakye in peace. I don’t even own a cotton swab!”
His post has generated widespread attention, with social media users divided over whether his statement was a humorous denial or a defensive response.
Although unrelated, another post by Collins Adomako-Mensah, Member of Parliament for Afigya Kwabre North, which stated, “It wasn’t me!!!!!! I just love SHAGGY’s songs,” has also generated some conversations, with some netizens trying to interpret it as linked to the subject matter.
It is worth noting that Collins Adomako-Mensah's constituency, while in the Ashanti Region, does not fall within the Kumasi area.
