The head pastor of Alabaster International Ministries, Prophet Kofi Oduro, has cautioned politicians to be mindful of their comments about Ghana's first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
He emphasized that Nkrumah's achievements in governance make him an unparalleled leader.
The pastor warned that any politician who disrespects Nkrumah's legacy will face difficulties in the pending general elections.
"Anybody who wants to win an election in this country, if you disrespect Nkrumah, it will not be well with you. Your governance cannot be compared to Nkrumah. What have you done in government to make this comparison?
"Is it the building of toilet facilities and those useless things? Let your work speak for you, not your bragging. From the first republic to the third, nobody comes close to Nkrumah,” he said while preaching to his congregants.
This statement follows remarks by Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who claimed that President Akufo-Addo has outperformed all previous leaders, including Nkrumah, which sparked significant backlash.
During his Founder’s Day speech, President Akufo-Addo also stated that he rejects the notion that one individual single-handedly founded Ghana.
There has been ongoing criticism of those who speak against Dr. Nkrumah in such comparisons.
