Kpando-Tokor, (V/R) July 15, GNA- The Italian Trades Union on Thursday donated educational materials worth 2,000 Euros to the Kpando-Torkor Roman Catholic Primary School. The items were presented through the General Agricultural Workers Union (GAWU) of the Ghana Trades Union Congress (TUC), which is undertaking an integrated rural development project under its Sustainable Agricultural and Rural Development (SARD) Programme in the area.

The Italian Trades Union is soliciting funding support for the various projects being undertaken under the SARD programme. The items include a bicycle for the Headteacher to facilitate his administrative work, books on various subjects, toys and teaching aids. Ms. Laura Sentilli, a Representative of the Italian Trades Union said the items were donations and collections of pupils of the IC-Ciale Ruspoli 80 in Rome.

She said the Italian workers union would support efforts to stock all school libraries in the area and other projects aimed at enhancing the quality of life in the community.

Ms Sentilli hinted that the proposed cultural exchange programme under which two teachers and 15 pupils from the school would be guests of a school in Rome would take off next year.
