J.B. Danquah-Adu had a vision to transform Ghana – Akufo-Addo

The 2016 Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Patriotic (NPP), Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has paid a glowing tribute to the late Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu, describing him as a man who had a vision to transform Ghana.

This vision, he noted, was well aligned to the values of the Danquah-Busia Dombo tradition and therefore was not surprise to see J. B. an industrialist, entered into politics.

J. B. who later became the MP for Abuakwa North, according to Akufo-Addo, was well committed and emphatic on the critical importance of the pivotal role of the Ghanaian private sector in promoting the social and economic transformation of the Ghanaian society.

“I found him charming company, convivial and gay, with an inimitable smile. He was intelligent, well organised and fully committed to the values of the Danquah-Dombo-Busia political tradition. His own successful business career as an industrialist was eloquent testimony to his deeply held beliefs”.

“He had no doubt that his great ancestor, whose name he bore, Joseph Boakye Danquah, had the best blueprint for the rapid transformation of our nation, and that Ghana’s continued failure to make the quantum leap to prosperity, despite all its abundant riches, was as a result of the failure to apply that blueprint. He was going to do his best to remedy that failure. That was why he was in politics”, he noted.

Having worked with him for some time in the legislator, Akufo-Addo was convinced that J. B. had a bright future, both as an entrepreneur and a politician.

“He became a valued and trusted counselor, with sharp insights into the political process”.

To him, the NPP and the nation, have “lost a positive spirit” who had much to contribute to the future of Ghana.
