J.B. Danquah outlines vision for Subin

Mr. Joseph Boakye-Danquah, an aspirant of the Subin constituency parliamentary eat for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has proposed a paradigm shift for the development of the constituency. He has suggested that Members of Parliament must explore development opportunities outside the Common Fund.

The aspirant, the third to declare his bid for the Subin seat, after incumbent Isaac Osei and Eugene Boakye Antwi, said in this age Members of Parliament (MPs) do not only make laws and administer funds, but also bring about development to their constituencies that have to be managed as corporate entities.

He said the only way to initiate development effectively is to look outside the party and local sources and raise funds for projects. Mr. Danquah, 49, said it is about time MPs solicit funding from both local and foreign sources for the development of their constituencies.

The aspirant noted that he is challenged to do more for the Subin constituency since all major institutions in Kumasi are based in the constituency and assured that he would utilize all available resources to develop the area instead of waiting for funds from the Common Fund.

Mr. Danquah stressed the need for transparency to enable constituents to know the source of funds and how they are utilized for their benefit. J. B. Danquah, who launches his bid for the Subin seat on Wednesday said he had contributed to the growth of the party and therefore qualifies to represent the Subin constituency in Parliament stressing that his passion for Subin dates back to 1992 when the NPP was formed. He assured to take up the challenge from where his two predecessors left off to do more once he gets the mandate.

His bid is inspired by his belief that he is an inspirational leader and a patriot whose ideologies of a society are based on the principle that all individuals are born with the same rights to life hence his resolve to ensure that the rights of people are preserved and protected by people in authority should strive to preserve and protect these rights in formulating and enforcing laws to make the society worth living.

Mr. J. B. Danquah is a product of Prempeh College from where he enrolled at the University of Cape Coast where he obtained B.Sc. degree in Agriculture and a Diploma in Science Education with honors in 1997.

At UCC, Mr. Danquah was elected President of the Ghana Association of Agricultural Students (GAAS) and also appointed Chairman of the Academic committee of the Student Representative Council. Mr. Danquah’s acumen as a negotiator and excellent insights into matters of concern won him a seat at the University Academic Board and the University Library Board concurrently.

Mr. Danquah strived to obtain a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, London. He worked as sales and marketing manager at Afariwaa farms, Tema, where he won the coveted Agro-Based Marketing Company of the year award from Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG).

In 2003, he was admitted to the Prestigious Humphrey Institute of Public Policy (University Of Minnesota) in the United States of America, where he obtained a Master’s degree in Public Policy with an emphasis in Development Economics and Policy Analysis in 2005.

Mr. Danquah obtained his second master’s degree in Business Administration (Accounting Option) at the University Of Saint Thomas in Minneapolis, Minnesota (AACSB accredited) in 2012. The aspirant currently doubles as a Patron of the Afful Nkwanta electoral area and NPP Ashanti Regional Communications Department. He is the founder and C.E.O of Bethel Management Group Incorporated of BMG Tax Services, Bethel Healthcare Systems and BMG Travel & Tours LLC in the United States of America.

Mr. Danquah has helped many small and medium scale businesses to avoid bankruptcy and turn their business into profit making ventures. He possesses thorough knowledge in policy formulation and execution at the national level. Under his leadership, the revenue of Bethel Management Group Incorporated has sky-rocketed from a few thousand dollars to over a million dollars annually. He also performed creditably as the first African Management Analyst at the Department of Human Services in the state of Minnesota, U.S.A.

The aspirant says he had invested in the organization of symposium on electoral process for women organizer and delegates as well as adopt the Communication department of the Regional party office and also provided computers and printers for the Subin office while providing the National office with HD projector screen and speaker at US$6,000.00. With his education, professional experiences, and accomplishments, Mr. Danquah believes he has proven to be a competent leader who cares about the socio-economic well-being of the constituents he seeks to serve.
