JH Mensah Retains his Seat

The "Father of the House", J H Mensah, has comfortably sailed through on the "Asee ho" NPP ticket by taking the Sunyani East consituency in the Brong Ahafo Region. The figures are as follows

 NDC - 11,419
 CPP - 271
 PNC - 1,511
 UGM - 53
 NRP - 307
 NPP - 28,998
 

It will be recalled that there was a controversy surrounding this seat when the Chief of Sunyani, in an apparent contradiction of the 1992 Constitution, declared his open support for the NDC candidate.

J H protested and called on Chiefs to respect the provisions of the Consitution which bars reigning royals from partaking in active party politics.
