Agenda to make him a one term President

-From President Mills’ Funeral home

National Democratic Congress (NDC) founder and former president, Jerry John Rawlings and his political soul mate, Nana Konadu will eternally regret the aftermath of the unexpected death of their once darling boy, President J.E.A Mills.

Ever since the genteel professor of Law and ex-President of Ghana, John Evans Atta Mills passed on to glory on Tuesday 24th July this year, his former mentor and boss, Jerry Rawlings and his wife Nana Konadu, as if by design, continued to experience sleepless nights.

Jerry Rawlings and Nana Konadu after the demise of President Mills have continually found themselves in one form of quagmire or the other, compelling a political observer who spoke to this paper on condition of anonymity to remark; “the spirit of the good old professor would continue to haunt them until they ‘come clean”.

After signing the book of condolence in memory of the late President Mills at the State House last Friday, former president Rawlings was turned away at the ‘Golden Gate’ residence of the Mills’ when he arrived there, supposedly, to sympathize and to pay his last respect to the widow, Naadu Mills. His wife Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, Just as himself, unrepented critics of the late President Mills and who refused to return home from their Congo trip to mourn the leader of the party her husband founded, but rather chooses to fly to London, allegedly for an emergency medical check-up, eventually sneaked into the country to also sign the book of condolence at the State House last Monday. However, like her hubby, her intended attempt to defy all the odds to make a face-saving dash to the Mills’ Spintex road residence to mourn with Dr. Mrs. Naadu Mills failed to materialize as her request to do so was contemptuously turned down.

Jerry Rawlings had earlier suffered a backlash from the family of the late president when in far away Congo at the time of President Mills’ death he told the BBC that he is shock but not surprised because his death could have been avoided.

“Quite frankly had he been advised and done something wiser, he could probably have survived another six, seven months I guess”, Rawlings told the BBC. But the family of the late president Mills in an angry response reminded Rawlings that “Our Son died in a bed, at peace with himself, and with dignity in the eyes of equally well-thinking men. Such a kind fate may not befall those tempted to stride the world as rabble-rousing tin-gods.”

To make matters even worse for the former first couple, the family of the late president Mills has adopted a cloth for the funeral of the late president christened; Se Asa, an Akan innuendo for those who are thought to have hounded a person to his early grave.

Jerry John Rawlings and Nana Konadu however, joined a solemn ceremony at the Osu Castle in Accra last Tuesday to mark the one week celebration of the demise of President John Evans Atta Mills.
