…This Guy Is An 'Illiterate' – Kofi Wayo
The war against politics of insults is far from being won despite the admonishing from President Mills and concerns expressed by other members of civil society.
“Chuck” Kofi Wayo is the latest offender.
The maverick politician has taken a swipe at the National Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, describing him as an “educated buffoon” who lack basic understanding of what “morals” and “ethics” entail.
According to him, his brief association with the NPP led to the shocking realization that the National Chairman of the NPP has no conscience, saying “i thought Jake grew up in England so he had some intelligence…but he is the typical vicious African”.
He was responding to recent comments by the NPP National Chair on the impending 2012 elections vis-à-vis the decision by the Electoral Commission to resort to the use of the Biometric register without a verification process.
Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, in an interview on an Accra-based radio station, Oman FM, cautioned that Ghana is equally prone to post election violence if the lessons from other African countries were not learnt.
The NPP stalwart is reported to have said that the violence that erupted in Ivory Coast was championed by the dominant Akan speaking people, who were fighting for their convictions, and what happened in the French-speaking country could happen in Ghana since the Akans in here, who are in the majority are likely to adopt the same strategies if they feel dissatisfied with the upcoming polls.
But speaking to Radio Gold in an interview on Friday, the outspoken politician labeled the opposition NPP a criminal organization chaired by an “inhumane Jake”.
“I know Jake very well; I dined with him during the campaign in 1998 to 2000. But this guy is an educated illiterate; he does not understand morals or ethics and he has no conscience at all. I thought he grew up in England so he had some intelligence and imbibed some civilization, but he is the typical vicious African, he doesn’t care about the Ghanaian. He’s supposed to be a Ga but he doesn’t even care to speak the language, at least I was gone for 46 years and when I came back, I try to learn the language so I can talk to the people but he doesn’t care about them, he has no human feeling and I have been telling you people for years that the NPP is a criminal organization,” he asserted.
The founder of the defunct United Renaissance Party (URP) further posited that if the NPP’s National Chair had a conscience he would have wisely counseled Nana Akufo-Addo, to relinquish the flagbearership mantle in the face of allegations about his drug use.
“If Jake has a conscience, with all this allegations against his candidate, if he is a civilized human being he will tell Nana Addo that the embarrassment is too much so he should resign; this is what will happen in any civilized society,” he said.
He accused Mr Obetsebi-Lamptey of looting state property when the NPP under John Agyekum Kufuor was in power, “and even when he was confronted that it was morally and ethically wrong, he proceeded to court.”
“I challenged Jake Obetsebi to name only one thing he has done for the Ga’s apart from living off the poor people of Ghana,” he dared.
