National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey says some party members putting themselves up for election into various offices in the party aren’t cut out for the job.
Without mentioning specific names, Mr. Obetsebi-Lamptey urged party supporters to reject such persons when they come campaigning to lead the party.
The former tourism minister is expected to be challenged by businessman Paul Afoko for his position as chairman of the NPP.
He told supporters at a thanksgiving event in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi, to be wary of whom they repose confidence in during the party’s upcoming congress.
“We know that especially in this region, everyone was fed up with people going on radio stations insulting each other all the time. “No one will vote for your candidate because you can insult better. People will vote based on the output you make for that candidate,” he opined.
Mr. Obetsebi-Lamptey said delegates must vote solely on a candidate's merit and capability.
He said people within the party must have Ghana’s interest at heart and must focus on regaining power in 2016.
