A member of Government’s Communication Team, Alhaji Naziru Mohammed, has described remarks made by the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) National Chairman, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, that President John Dramani Mahama is immature and an uninspiring leader, as mere rhetoric meant to win sympathy votes to retain his chairmanship position.

Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey asked President Mahama to be ‘serious’ in his administration rather than just giggling and making jokes at the Presidency.

“Instead of mature and inspiring leadership, we got a performance of giggling teenager intent on getting us to “like me”. At this time, Mr. President, we don’t need to “like” you for your boyish charm, we need to trust you...Having said all this, we must not allow ourselves to be diverted from the real crux of the matter. Ghana is on the brink of a real crisis in our economy and how it is being mismanaged. We need thoughtful and committed leadership. Leadership that is prepared to lead; that has ideas about how to bring us together; leadership that we will all agree to support and follow as we seek to restore macro-economic stability,” he pontificated.

Addressing this on Ghana Decides program on Okay Fm, the NDC communicator averred that Jake’s idea of togetherness is rather self-seeking since the NPP prefers witnessing the ruin of the country because they are not directly in charge of state affairs.

“On the national day of Independence, Jake and his people and Nana Akufo-Addo run parallel a program which means that they have their President in Nana Akufo Addo, and now such a person is calling for togetherness in Ghana. If Jake wants togetherness in Ghana, then they should stop the parallel programs and the attitude of ‘we have our own President’; with this behavior of NPP, they are helping Nana Akufo Addo to kiss his presidential ambition goodbye,” he asserted.
