Jake pays glowing tribute to Ga Manye.

Accra, Dec.8 GNA - Mr Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, Minister of Tourism and Modernization of the Capital City at the weekend commended Naa Dedee Omaadru III, Ga Manye for her immense contribution over the years towards the development of the Ga State.

He also paid a glowing tribute to the Queen Mother for the way and manner she had been handling the affairs of her office since she was enstooled 40 years ago.

Mr Obetsebi- Lamptey made the commendation at a grand durbar held in honour of Naa Deede Omaadru III, Paramount Queen Mother of the Ga State on her 40th Anniversary celebrations at the Ga Mantse Palace, Accra.

The durbar, which climaxed activities marking 40 years of her enstoolment as the Ga Manye, brought together various Paramount and Divisional Chiefs in the Ga Traditional Area.

He said the anniversary was a very important symbolic event that marked a key milestone in the history of the Ga State.

He called on the people in the Traditional Area to bury their differences and move the development agenda in the area forward.

Mr obetsebi-Lamptey said tradition and customs of the Ga people should be maintained so as to portray their heritage.

In her address Naa Deede Omaadru III, appealed to doctors, nurses and other health workers to halt their exodus to other countries in search of greener pasture.

She said they must not allow money to blind their conscience adding: "As Shakespeare rightly put it money is something nothing."

She said the doctors and the other paramedical staffs must consider the taxpayers, whose money was used to train them.

She urged the Government to improved the working conditions for all workers not only health workers.

" Teachers and civil servants play indispensable roles in our national development and they should be given incentives to give of their best."

Naa Dedee Omaadru said it was her avowed aim to champion the campaign for the cleanliness of Accra adding, that that was why she launched her 40th anniversary celebration with cleanup exercises in all the markets of Accra.

She pledged to cooperate with market women in the various markets in Metropolis.

" A lot of complains and their grievances have reached me and I am going to do my best to find a lasting solution to the myriad of problems so that they can conduct their business in peace to help in the development agenda of the nation" she said.

The Paramount Queen Mother also appealed to the young ladies in the country to uphold the dignity of their womanhood for HIV/AIDS is real.

She said available data showed that women were more vulnerable to the disease than the men.

Mr Obetsebi-Lamptey and the Greater Accra regional branch of new patriotic Party later presented a carton of Schnapps, lace materials and greeting cards to the Queen Mother.

The Ghana Jewellers Association, Market Women Association and Children of the Queen Mother also presented various gifts to the Ga Manye.
