Accra, April 22, GNA- Ms Anna Nyamekye, the Deputy Minister of Food, has appealed to delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Jaman South constituency to endorse her candidature to enable her to contest the December parliamentary elections.

The deputy Minster, who is also Member of Parliament (MP) for Jaman South, said she would continue with the good works she had started in the area if eventually retained as MP.

Ms Nyamekye who said these in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Tuesday in Accra, appealed to party executives in the constituency to bury their differences to enable the NPP to defeat the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2008 Election.

The MP said she used part of her share of the MP Common Fund to support more than 60 girls to continue their education at the Senior High School level and provided accommodation for teachers so that newly trained teachers would accept postings to the area.

Ms Nyamekye said she also assisted 12 communities in the area to be connected to the national grid to promote economic activities. She said government had made health care accessible to the people through the National Health Insurance Scheme and provided educational infrastructure to promote education.

Ms Nyamekye said over 50 school leavers in the constituency had been employed under the National Youth Employment Programme. She said more business opportunities would be explored to create jobs and wealth for the people.

Ms Nyamekye said boreholes had been sunk to provide potable water for some communities in the constituency.
