Janet Asana Nabla, Flagbearer of the People’s National Party (PNP)
Janet Asana Nabla, Flagbearer of the People’s National Party (PNP), has responded to remarks made by Malik Basintale, Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA).
Basintale had stated that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) would not “lose guard” and hand over power to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), arguing that such a move would take the country backwards.
However, speaking in an interview on GhOne TV, Janet Asana Nabla countered his comments, insisting that power will not be handed to the NPP but rather to the PNP.
“I heard Malik Basintale say that the NDC will not hand over power. And I said, thank God you are saying this, because it means just as the NPP handed over power, you will hand over power in 2028 to nobody but the PNP. We will take the power from you,” she declared.
Nabla further argued that the NDC should not contest the 2028 elections, claiming that doing so would show disrespect to the people of Ghana. She accused the party of mismanaging resources, citing debts and misuse of funds.
“With all the campaign messages we gave, you came and took our gold reserves. You created a $240 million Gold Board debt. You took $130 million from our youth. We have seen that your marginal propensity is to consume, not to save. You don’t save; you only consume,” she said.

She criticised the NDC for failing to fulfill campaign promises and misleading Ghanaians.
“Your party has lied to the people of Ghana. You were among the forerunners spreading those lies. You made promises but have not executed even one. And yet you have the audacity to tell Ghanaians you will not hand over power. Malik Basintale, you will hand over power to the PNP in 2028. Mark it on your wall.”
