Japan To Train Ghanaians In Waste Management

Six Ghanaians are to be trained in solid and liquid waste management in Japan. The one-year training programme is being sponsored by a Japanese company, Sanko Limited based in Fukuoka City, which aims at setting up a waste management service in the country. The six persons would form the pioneers in the recruitment and training exercise prior to the company's intended operations in the country.

Dr Charles Brempong-Yeboah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Atiwa said this yesterday at a press conference at Parliament to explain terms of the training programme. He said through the assistance of Ghana's Ambassador to Japan, Dr Barfuor Adjei-Barwuah, the company agreed to train the first batch of six persons from his constituency. Dr Brempong-Yeboah said depending on the success of the initial programme, more Ghanaians would benefit from the programme.

Dr Adjei-Barwuah said the sponsorship would cover their cost of living and accommodation estimated at 25,000 dollars per head per annum, adding that if the programme goes on well about 30 Ghanaians would benefit from the programme.
