Japan constructs classroom block for Ho-Dome E.P. Primary

Ho, Nov. 12 GNA - Mr Keiichi Katakami, Japanese Ambassador to Ghana,= on Thursday signed a grant of GH¢105,550 for the construction of a 6-unit classroom block, which included an office and a storeroom for the Ho Dome=

E.P. Primary School. The support initiated by Mama Atrato II, Queenmother of Ho-Dome woul= d also provide 90-dual desks for the pupils and eight teachers' tables and 10 chairs. Mr Katakami said the amount from the Japanese Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects Scheme, would provide a new classroom block to accommodate 100 more in addition to the existing 154 pupils. "Ultimately, my hope is that improved educational standards in Dome as a result of this project will lead directly to the development of the tow= n and the city of Ho as a whole," he said. Mama Atrato said the school had not had any major rehabilitation sin= ce it was built by the Germans in 1948 and assured the Japanese Ambassador t= hat the project would be completed on time. She advised parents to invest in their children's education rather t= han on funeral clothes and urged government to consider the school under the school feeding programme. Mr Joseph Amenowode, Volta Regional Minister, urged the community to= be transparent in the execution of the project to ensure its early completio= n. He was hopeful that the project would promote academic excellence in=

the school. The project is expected to be completed next year. Mr Katakami was presented with a stool and beads by the Queen mother= s and teachers of the school.
