Jealous’ farmer guns down wife for ‘flirting

A farmer in his mid-40s has shot and killed his wife and mother of his seven (7) children with a single barrel gun at Jinfranu, a farming community in the North Gonja District of the Northern Region, MyNewsGh.com has confirmed.

Adama Ajas after the act, tried killing himself with the same gun but survived with a neck injury and has been admitted at the West Gonja Catholic Hospital receiving treatment.

It is gathered that the incident occurred at about 3pm on Sunday January 20, 2019 while the woman was cooking.

The husband went into the room, brought out the loaded gun, aimed at her and pulled the trigger which saw her rolling on the floor in pain amidst bleeding but before neighbours could come to her aide the mother of 7 had died.

The West Gonja District Police Commander Superintendent Sarpong Bempah who confirmed the incident to MyNewsGh.com disclosed that his outfit has launched an investigation into the matter though he refused to divulge further details.

As at press time, the police chief together with his crime officer were at the health facility to assess the condition of the suspect as well arrange for the body of the deceased to be deposited at the morgue for preservation pending autopsy.

Family of the both the suspect and deceased are tight-lipped over the matter.
