Former President John Dramani Mahama has said the late Jewel Ackah will be missed by Ghanaians, particular members of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The composer of the NDC anthem passed on after battling stroke and other sicknesses for the past 10 years.
He is said to have died at his home in the late hours of Friday, April 27. He was 68.
The late Ackah has been a supporter of the NDC and has composed most of the songs the party used in campaigning during and after elections.
Mr Mahama in a tribute on his Facebook page said: “Jewel was a great musician who has to his credit many albums including ‘Asomdwehene’ and the earth shaking NDC anthem. He will be sorely missed by Ghanaians, particularly the rank and file of the NDC.
“May the good Lord grant him eternal rest and comfort his family.”
