Muslims end their thirty days of 'dry' fasting today and climax it with the Eid-ul-Fitr celebration also known as "the festival of breaking the fast" after a successful Ramadan. The Muslim community in Jirapa joined their counterparts nationwide and worldwide in the celebration of this unique religious festival which is characterized by thanksgiving prayers and merrymaking.
The Hon.DCE CLETUS SEIDU DAPILAH, today joined the Muslim community in the district to celebrate this important religious moments by taking part in the congregation’s prayer at about 8:00am at the Naayiri Park. With a majority of the congregates in their white garments, they prayed to Allah for the guidance and protection throughout their moments of fasting. They also expressed their gratitude to Allah for His special blessings of peace and harmony to the district, upper west and the nation as a whole. Led by the chief Imam, he asked for Allah's continuous blessings and kindness.
After the prayers, the Hon.DCE seized the opportunity to talk to the joyous congregation. He first of all thanked the almighty Allah for a successful Ramadan fasting and congratulated the Muslims for observing this tedious religious obligation. He proceeded by explaining to the congregation to continue to obey the commandments of Allah even after the fasting. He encourage all Muslims to show the love of Allah to attract His Holy blessings.
The peace loving and gallant DCE also touched on the need for peace, love and harmony as the presidential and parliamentary elections are just by the corner. He explained the need for peace for the speedy development of the district before, during and after the elections.
He advised all especially the youth to refrain from all acts that might mar the peace that we are currently enjoying. He added that no one should allow himself or herself to be used by any politician to disturb the current state of tranquility in the district to achieve their parochial political ambitions.
The positive minded DCE charged students who were at the occasion to take their studies seriously to ensure academic success. The well-seasoned teacher advised the students to avoid acts which are detrimental to their academic journey. He reminded students that academic success without good religious knowledge and love have destructive consequences in the long run.
To rekindle his love for others, he exhibited charity by preparing a special meal for orphans at the ST. Joseph Orphanage in Jirapa. The special meal coupled with some drinks made the children so excited that they run around the father of the district. He also donated some clothes to the children and promised to always be there when the need arises. He played with the kids to put new smiles on their faces. This may be one of the memorable moments for the kids as they truly felt recognized and part of the society.
He encouraged the caretakers of the orphanage to take tender and proper care of the orphans. He reminded the caretakers to take them as their own children as these children are only victims of circumstances. The head of the Orphanage thanked the DCE for his kindness and love and prayed for the continuity of the government that cares about people including the disadvantaged such as the orphans.
The Hon.DCE DCE left the orphanage at exactly 11:30am.
