Jobless School of Hygiene graduates threaten to picket

Bonded unposted graduates from the School of Hygiene have issued a notice to picket the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to demand financial clearance for employment.

The 2016 graduates said their names were omitted during the mass posting earlier in 2016, which comprises 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 batches but several attempts to get financial clearance had not yielded results.

The group in a statement said they were promised jobs by the Ministry during their last picketing on 5 September 2017, and were made to fill the Public Service Commission Form 2 but they still remain jobless.

The group said they are agitating because they have been bonded by government adding that they feel “neglected, dejected and disappointed” by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and Local Government Service Secretariat for their failure to address their challenges despite several promises.

They have therefore issued a one month ultimatum to government to employ them or they picket “until the last person receives his or her appointment letter we will not move from the Ministry.”
