Ghanaian international, John Boye was an unused substitute for newly promoted French side Metz as they drew 1-1 with Racing Strasbourg in the opening weekend of the Ligue 1.
The Black Stars defender after representing his national team at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament was hoping to get a start but had to settle for bench-warming duties on match week 1.
Playing as the home side on the match day, Strasbourg took the lead on the 21st minute and went into the half-time break with the lead intact.
Metz, however, regrouped quickly and resumed the second half with more firepower before drawing level on the 47th minute.
The match eventually ended one all with both sides settling for a point each at the beginning of the season.
John Boye was instrumental for Metz last season in Ligue 2 and will be hoping to get back into the starting lineup on match week 2.
