Joyce Bawah Mogtari, spokesperson for former President John Dramani Mahama has formally reacted to news reports linking her boss to a recent report on former government officials alleged to have procured properties in Dubai.
A number of newspapers carried the report by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) on 'politically exposed persons' who own properties in Dubai, with headlines including phrases like "Mahama's men," "Mahama appointees."
According to the report, which was titled "How Dirty Money Finds a Home in Dubai Real Estate," and published on May 14, 2024, it looked into how criminals and politicians stash their wealth in Dubai by investing in properties.
The four Ghanaians listed were as follows: Inusah Abdulai Bistav Fuseini, a former Minister of Lands and Natural Resources.
Anthony Alfred Benin, a former judge on the Supreme Court of Ghana and the ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States) Court of Justice.
Joseph Kwaku Asamoah, a former finance director of the Electoral Commission of Ghana
Moses Aduko Asaga, a former member of Ghana’s parliament and former chief executive of the National Petroleum Authority of Ghana.
In Bawah Mogtari's reaction posted on her known social media handles (June 25), she stressed the fact that Mahama remained incorruptible and that linking him to the current report was untenable.
"The recent NPP syndicated story, deviously using Mahama’s name as a distraction, is just another ploy to divert attention from the alarming state capture that is unfolding under this administration.
"The looting of state lands and properties has reached unprecedented levels and has been a topic of discussion in the past few weeks. This syndicated story is, therefore, just another diversion to distract the public's attention," the post read in part.

John Mahama remains incorruptible
Accra, Ghana - Ben Ephson and his tabloid news leaflet see no wrong, hear no wrong, and speak no wrong regarding the failed and corrupt Akufo-Addo and Bawumia government.
Let me remind him and his colleague NPP editors that, unlike Akufo-Addo and Bawumia, President Mahama is incorruptible!
Despite the relentless and unfounded accusations the NPP has thrown at him, President Mahama has consistently emerged untarnished, a testament to his unwavering integrity.
The recent NPP syndicated story, deviously using Mahama’s name as a distraction, is just another ploy to divert attention from the alarming state capture that is unfolding under this administration.
The looting of state lands and properties has reached unprecedented levels and has been a topic of discussion in the past few weeks. This syndicated story is, therefore, just another diversion to distract the public's attention.
No amount of loose and imagined associations from Ben Ephson and his NPP friends can overturn this immutable fact that Mahama stands vindicated from all their mudslinging.
Rest assured, Mr Mahama will reclaim the presidency to revitalise Ghana's economy and hold corrupt NPP officials accountable.
