The Member of Parliament for Jomoro Constituency in the Western Region, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, and her entourage narrowly escaped an accident at Komenda Junction on the Takoradi-Cape Coast-Accra Highway.
The MP and her team were reportedly returning from the constituency in the early hours of Thursday, August 29, 2024, after her campaign launch at Half Assini.
According to a report by 3news.com, eyewitnesses narrated that at approximately 5:05 a.m., while returning to Accra, Affo-Toffey’s Ford Raptor vehicle was nearly involved in a horrifying accident caused by an overtaking heavy truck.
Eyewitnesses stated that the accident occurred when two heavy trucks attempted to overtake each other. One of the truck drivers, who appeared to be dozing off, lost control of the steering.
In an attempt to avoid a deadly collision, the driver of Affo-Toffey’s vehicle veered off the road into a nearby bush.
Dorcas Affo-Toffey, along with three other occupants in the Ford Raptor vehicle, were rushed to the hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment in a stable condition.
