Jomoro MP reshapes 17-kilometre road in various communities

The Member of Parliament for Jomoro Constituency in the Western Region, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has overseen the reshaping of seventeen kilometres of roads across four communities in the constituency.

These roads are different from those previously reshaped in other communities. The current reshaping efforts have targeted major roads and in-town roads.

The communities that have benefited from the 17-kilometre reshaped roads are Allewule, Mpataba, Bonyere, and Ezinobo Zone. Allewule had its one-kilometre road reshaped, Mpataba had two kilometres reshaped, and Bonyere and Ezinobo Zone, both in-town roads, had fourteen kilometres reshaped.

The deplorable road at Allewule Junction, which links the Junction to the town, was causing havoc for residents whenever it rained. Okada riders who ply the one-kilometre road were charging as high as GH₵10 for the short distance, which the residents found unbearable.

However, with the reshaping of the road, the Okada fare has been reduced to GH₵5. Some okada riders and residents expressed gratitude to the MP for the reshaping and called for proper tarring of the road.

The Mpataba by-pass, a 2-kilometre road linking to the main Elubo road, previously forced residents and commuters from Half-Assini, Tekobo 1 and 2, and other communities to travel to the Samenyi barrier before they could join the Elubo Road.

But with the reshaping of the Mpataba by-pass, commuters can now use the by-pass to reach the main Elubo road, significantly shortening their journey. Residents and drivers noted that the road has greatly benefited their businesses, especially considering the inconvenience caused by the deteriorated road previously. They are also calling for the proper tarring of the road.

The 14-kilometre roads in Bonyere and Ezinobo Zone also serve these communities in various ways. Residents had difficulties commuting on these roads during rainy seasons due to floods, but with the reshaping, such issues have ceased.
