The Constituency Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Jomoro in the Western Region, Mr. Simon Amoah is demanding for the removal of Hon. Ernest Kofie from office as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area.
This, he said must be done immediately to save the party from defeat in the next general elections.
Hon. Ernest Kofie who led the party to victory in 2016 as Chairman was nominated and subsequently confirmed as MCE for Jomoro Municipality in 2017, but he has been accused of working against the success of the party.
In a communiqué issued and signed by the Chairman of the party and sighted by the media, he opined that "The MCE since assumption of office has shown clearly by his deeds that he cannot and will not work with the party to strengthen it for 2020 elections".
According to the communiqué, the MCE has shown gross disrespect to the Constituency Executive and the entire party.
The Constituency Chairman is by this communiqué directing all the party faithfuls and sympathizers to stop attending to any assembly organised programmes.
The communiqué added that the MCE is a threat to the party going into the next elections and therefore urging the appointing authority to remove him from office with immediate effect.
"His continue stay in office is deemed as a threat to the party going into the future and the next elections", the communiqué emphasized.
Before this communiqué, some party faithfuls had accused the MCE of working against the NPP Member of Parliament (MP) for the area who doubles as a Deputy Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Paul Essien.
According to these faithfuls, the MCE has failed to work with the MP for a common goal, adding that the MCE was taking credit of all projects been executed by the Akufo-Addo-led government without hailing the MP's effort.
