Jordan Ayew ranks better than the highly-rated attacker he succeeded at Aston Villa as comprehensive statistics show that the Ghanaian striker has converted more chances than Christian Benteke currently of Liverpool.

The Ghanaian's conversion rate is much higher than Benteke's, with his five goals coming from 22 shots compared to the Belgian's six from 34.

Ayew's shooting accuracy is also much higher than than the Liverpool player's with 63.6% of his efforts hitting their mark, against the 25-year-old's 41.2%.

Although the new man does not bring as much aerially to the Villa team as Benteke and his distribution stats are not as good, the 10 chances created could easily be a lot higher if another forward in the Villa Park dressing room was in the same vein of form as him.

The problem comes when analysing the positions the two attacking men play.

Ayew operates on the left side and cuts in onto his right foot, with four of his five goals from his favoured side.

Two of these strikes have come from outside the area, a position Benteke should only find himself when holding the ball up for his teammates.

Although Ayew's stats are impressive and he has had a strong season in a weak side, he is not the man Villa can turn to in their situation.

The Ghanaian is a winger who has chipped in with more than his fair share of goals and he needs someone in the mould of Benteke, who has more quality and consistency than Gestede, to make themselves available in the box.

Currently the midfielder is going alone every time because there is no one at Villa Park standing up and being counted.
