Ho, Oct. 17, GNA - A former Volta Regional Manager of the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Geoffrey Ayer on Friday called on the government to honour the kingmakers of Asogli Traditional Council for the peaceful and orderly installation of the new Agbogbomefia, Togbe Afede XIV. He said such a gesture was necessary in an era where disputes had held back the choice and installation of successors to vacant stools in the region in particular.

Mr Ayer who expressed the view when he visited the GNA office at Ho said such an honour whether from government or the Volta Regional or National Houses of Chiefs would have a positive influence on the conduct of other kingmakers.

He said the peaceful and unified approach which characterised the selection and installation of the new Chief ought to be emulated in the region as a drive towards development.

Mr Ayer said the gesture of the Asogli traditional area had brought honour and dignity to the chieftaincy institution in the region and showed its potential to be a source of unity and good leadership. He was optimistic that the new Agbogbomefia would enjoy total support from his elders and subjects and prove equal to the task of leading his people to develop the traditional area bring positive influences to bear on the development of the Volta Region.

He said the people of the region were yearning to see the peaceful installation of successors to vacant stools.
