As part of efforts to enhance understanding of the Jubilee Project and of Ghana’s
budding oil and gas industry, the Jubilee Partners, have embarked on a nation-wide
exhibition, christened the Jubilee Travel Exhibition, to keep Ghanaians abreast
with issues in the oil and gas sector.
The Travel Exhibition, which landed at the Ce
ntre for National Culture (CNC), in the Northern regional capital, Tamale over the weekend, is expected to reach all regions within the next few weeks.
According to the Jubilee Partners, the event is in response to the need to deepen understanding and ensure transparency around Ghana’s oil find.
The exhibition, which is a mobile education and communication road show, would bring the exciting Jubilee story to the doorsteps of Ghanaians, and serve as a platform for education and information sharing on Ghana’s new status as an oil producer, .
“It will offer an opportunity to match the realities of the oil find with the huge expectations,” a statement issued prior to the launch of the exhibition said.
Each regional capital, beginning from the Northern Region, will host the exhibition for at least three days and will proceed to the Upper East regional capital, Bolgatanga, and then to the Upper West Region, before making its way towards the middle of the country.
During the exhibition, traditional leaders, NGOs, tertiary and second cycle students, local authorities, the media and the public would have the opportunity to learn more about the Jubilee Project.
Representatives of the Jubilee Partners, which include Anadarko, Kosmos Energy, Tullow Oil, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Sabre Oil and the EO Group, would also be on hand to respond to queries from the public
Launching the project last Thursday, the First Lady Mrs. Ernestina Naadu Mills, paid glowing tribute to the Jubilee partners for the move, saying transparency is the only way that expectations from the oil find could be managed.
She said the government and key players in the oil industry have a responsibility to keep the key stakeholders, mainly the citizenry, about developments in the industry in order to ensure transparency and avoid the mistakes of other countries.
The exhibition train stops in the Upper West Region between 13th and 16th of this month and move on from there to the Brong Ahafo CNC in Sunyani, before heading to Takoradi Polytechnic in the western region from June 4th to June 11th.
The exhibition travel tour will then head for the Eastern, Volta and Greater Accra regions by the middle of July. The Upper East region will not be left out.
