June 4 ideals are important pigments-Quashigah

Keta (V/R), June 6, GNA - The 1979 June 4 uprising ideals remain a major pigment in Ghana's body- politics and can never be wished away, Mr Richard Quashigah, Propaganda Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has noted. He said despite attempts by some people in society to write off the event, it would continue to provide the significance colouration to the country's governance process, development, human rights and social obligation.

Mr Quashigah was addressing a gathering of June 4 Uprising faithful marking the 31st anniversary of the event in Keta in the Volta Region on Friday. He appealed to ordinary Ghanaians in whose interest the uprising was

staged not to be deceived by self- seekers whose agenda is being truncated by the event. He said the criticisms of the current NDC regime by former President

Jerry Rawlings was not a sign of ill-will and hatred but a reminder to keep the administration on track in line with the party's vision relating to the June 4 ideals.

Mr Quashigah said President Mills administration takes the criticism s in good faith as a direction for

good leadership. Mr Sedanu Kwao, Headmaster of Keta Senior High School, said the even t was a new a new beginning for

Ghanaians. Mr Sylvester Tornyeavah, Keta Municipal Chief Executive said: "There is no great nation I have seen or

heard of which had not passed through one war or revolution." He said government is on course to provide employment, affordable an d equitable education, health care

and an improved.
