Marking the 90th birthday of Mr Justice J.C. Amonoo-Monney, Martin A.B.K. Amidu, former Attorney General has penned a heartfelt tribute to honour the retired judge’s decades of commitment to justice and public service in Ghana.
Amidu praised Amonoo-Monney’s selfless contributions to the nation, highlighting his integrity, humility, and influence on Ghana’s judiciary.
Reflecting on their collaboration during Ghana’s 1992 Constitution drafting, Amidu described Amonoo-Monney as “a shining example of honour, integrity, and selfless public service.”
He recounted how Amonoo-Monney remained devoted to his work, even forgoing promotions that others might have pursued, instead focusing on nurturing his colleagues and students at the Ghana School of Law.
“Amonoo-Monney is a precious jewel to our judiciary,” Amidu wrote, emphasizing the need for Ghanaians to honour such dedicated figures during their lifetime.
After he retired from the Court of Appeal in 2005, Amonoo-Monney continued his service as a lay preacher and mentor to young legal minds.
Amidu’s tribute calls for national recognition of Justice Amonoo-Monney’s legacy, celebrating a man who has left an indelible mark on Ghana’s legal and moral fabric.
