A Supreme Court nominee Justice Yaw Apau has revealed that he had never met President John Mahama in person, until he was appointed head of the Judgment debt commission.

According to him, it will therefore be out of place for anyone to assume that his decisions will be influenced by any external factor, if he sits on the bench as a Supreme Court judge.

“To be honest with you, I had never met him personally, I didn’t know him.

“The first time I saw him was when I went to the castle to be sworn-in as head of the judgment debt commission, until then, I didn’t know him,” he told the Appointments Committee of Parliament during his vetting Tuesday.

He also added that there has never been pressure on him from any quarters to rule in a particular direction, ever since he joined the bench.

President Mahama appointed Justice Apau as head of the judgment debt commission in October 2012.
