A Justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana, Justice Yonny Kulendi, has emphasised the critical need for accurate information and lawful pathways in migration, describing guidance on immigration as “an invaluable resource” in today’s globalised world.

He made these remarks at the launch of “The Immigration Formulae: Rules, Packaging and Strategy,” a new book authored by lawyer Wonder Victor Kutor in Accra.

Chairing the event, Justice Kulendi stressed that migration remains both “vital and inevitable,” playing a key role in global economic growth, labour mobility, and innovation.

However, he warned that the absence of reliable information continues to create a significant gap between the aspirations of prospective migrants and the realities of immigration processes.

“The author addresses the knowledge gap between the ambitions, dreams, and plans of potential immigrants and non-immigrants globally,” he stated.

He noted that migration contributes significantly to national development by boosting productivity, filling critical skill shortages, and sustaining ageing populations in developed countries.

According to him, migrants also drive innovation and contribute to their home countries through remittances, which continue to play a major role in improving livelihoods.

Justice Kulendi argued that in this context, any work that provides education, structure, and clarity on migration processes is indispensable.

“Any resource that provides accurate information, education, and guidance on how to migrate effectively—whether as an immigrant or non-immigrant - is truly invaluable,” he emphasised.

Beyond highlighting the global importance of migration, the Supreme Court judge also used the platform to make a passionate appeal for support for intellectual work, urging participants to go beyond mere attendance and actively invest in the author’s effort.

“Let your presence here go beyond attendance - demonstrate your support tangibly,” he said, encouraging guests to purchase copies of the book, even above its shelf price, as a show of commitment to knowledge development.

He further noted that such support would inspire many others with untold stories and ideas to take bold steps into authorship, thereby contributing to national intellectual growth.

The book, “The Immigration Formulae: Rules, Packaging and Strategy,” is designed as a practical guide for individuals seeking to migrate abroad, particularly to the United States.

It provides insights into immigration rules, application strategies, and lawful pathways for obtaining visas and residency.

Earlier, the President of the Ghana Publishers Association, Edward Yaw Udzu, described the publication as a timely intervention in a space often dominated by misinformation.

“Immigration has become one of the most quietly discussed topics in our society today… however, the process for lawful migration is often misunderstood, confusing, and sometimes clouded by misinformation,” he said.

He added that many people rely on rumours and unverified agents when making migration decisions, stressing that the book replaces “rumours with rules, confusion with clarity, and uncertainty with strategy.”

Udzu highlighted that the strength of the book lies in its practical approach, particularly its explanation of visa categories and pathways from temporary to permanent residency.

“This book serves as a bridge between ambition and lawful opportunity,” he remarked.

Author Wonder Victor Kutor, who is also a board member of the Volta River Authority, expressed gratitude to all who supported the publication, noting that the book was inspired by the need to guide individuals seeking a clearer understanding of immigration processes, especially in relation to the United States.

The launch attracted legal practitioners, academics, and members of the public, all united by a shared interest in navigating migration through lawful and informed means.
