Ivy Heward-Mills (L) and her late husband JB Danquah Adu
Ivy Heward-Mills, wife of the late former Abuakwa North MP, Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu, has criticised the justice system over prolonged delay in her husband’s murder case, ten years after his death.
In a Facebook post on February 10, 2026, Ivy Heward-Mills said they continue to struggle with lingering pain, unanswered questions, and what she describes as the justice system’s failure to deliver closure.
Widow of JB Danquah Adu speaks on 10 years since his murder
“We have prayed for justice. We have hoped for closure, and for 10 years, they’ve both eluded us. His people have failed him spectacularly. The justice system has failed us royally,” she said in a Facebook post on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
Recounting the night her life changed forever, Ivy said a phone call at dawn on February 9, 2016, marked a permanent turning point for her and her daughters.
“At 2:13 am on Tuesday, February 09, 2016, a phone call woke me up and became the fault line that divided our lives into a ‘before and after’,” she recounted.
Ivy Heward-Mills described the years that followed as a relentless struggle with grief and emotional upheaval, likening the experience to navigating darkness and chaos.
“Life suddenly became what felt like the frightening and frustrating navigation of a complex maze in total darkness, in the middle of a tornado. It was a series of hard moments. Years of hard moments… hard moments of incremental intensity,” she said.
According to her, grief reshaped every aspect of their lives, altering their sense of safety and identity.
“Grief had arrived unannounced; it had settled into our days and nights, altered our sense of safety, and reshaped how we understood time. We were wounded. The very fiber of our being was distorted,” he continued.
Despite the pain, she said her faith in God has sustained her family through moments when survival itself felt uncertain.
“There were days I didn’t know how we would make it through to the next, but God carried us. God always provided. He has covered us, strengthened us, and held us together when we felt most fragile,” she reflected.
Heward-Mills called for accountability to ensure no other family suffers a similar fate.
“God’s graciousness has raised us loyally, and I’m trusting my people to do right by us markedly and ornately. No one else must suffer what we have,” she appealed.
