The hashtag #JusticeForAma continues to be among the top trends on social media, particularly on X, as Ghanaians on the platform continue to demand justice for a 13-year-old who was sexually abused on multiple occasions by a relative for over two years.

The distressing story of the 13-year-old girl, which was first brought to X by a user with the name Sydney (@niidosu), has dominated the space for days as some Ghanaian celebrities and influencers have added their voices to the call for justice for Ama, which is the pseudonym of the girl.

According to Sydney (@niidosu), a teacher of the young girl, whose real identity has been hidden because she is a minor, suspected unusual behavior in the little girl and spoke to her to know what was amiss.

Little Ama, as the story goes, did not speak but rather handed her teacher a paper with the inscription, "I have a sexually transmitted disease and I am suffering from it. I wish I was a boy."

The teacher then took the issue up and reported the man in question to the police, leading to the arrest of the 29-year-old who allegedly defiled the young girl for over two years.

However, the guardian of both Ama and the abuser managed to secure bail for the abuser. The report by the X user indicates that young Ama was accused by the woman of seducing her abuser.

Despite the case being investigated by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service, there are concerns that the woman in question is influencing the process and therefore stalling the progress of the case.

Following the publication of the issue on X, some Ghanaians on the platform have been demanding that the Ghana Police Service treat the matter with the seriousness and urgency it deserves and secure justice for the victim.
