Takoradi, June 3 -GNA-Mr. Kwesi Afriyie-Badu, Chief Executive Officer of the KAB Governance Consult on Tuesday presented an air-conditioner to the Western Press Centre of the Ghana Journalists Association at Takoradi. Presenting the donation, Mr. Afriyie-Badu said the equipment, valued at 550 Ghana cedis, was in fulfilment of a pledge KAB Governance consult made to the branch for its determination to promote good governance, democracy and offer the general public an avenue for meeting and interacting with the media in the Western Region. He said the media, was a vital vehicle in the promotion of good governance and all stakeholders must help motivate them to make this task possible.

Mr. Bright Blewu, General Secretary of the GJA commended KAB governance consult for assisting the Western Regional branch. He said bad governance was a bane to the country's development and urged all Ghanaians to resist any form of governance that would curtail freedom of speech, expression and democracy. Mr. George A. Naykene, Western Regional Chairman of the GJA, receiving the item said the donation was timely, adding that, the requirements of the centre were numerous and appealed to other institutions and individuals to support them. Mr. Naykene pledged that the GJA in the region would continue to play its expected role for the development of the region and media practice. The Western Region won the best organised branch award at the 2008 annual general award ceremony of the GJA in Accra recently.
