KATH CT scan down; patients paying exorbitant fee to individuals.

Patients at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) are going through tough times with the breakdown of only a Computed Tomography Scan (CT Scan) at the second largest health facility in the country.

Most patients, according to this reporter, Kwabena Danso-Dapaah have no choice than to pay an exorbitant fee to private companies to go through any CT Scan process they are referred by their doctors.

The breakdown of the CT Scan at the KATH Emergency Clinic is creating more problems for both patients and doctors, the reporter has learned

A doctor who spoke to on conditions of strict anonymity complained about how the situation is having a negative toll on the services they are providing to patients.

An engineer at the Hospital said the situation is getting out of hand as there is pressure on operational CT Scan, which he observed may break down as a result.

He said the situation becomes worrying, especially at times the hospital is to receive emergency cases.

Attempts to get management of KATH to speak to the issue have proven futile.
