KATH CEO Dr Paa Kwesi Baidoo making the donation
The Muslim community at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has expressed profound gratitude and admiration for the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Paa Kwesi Baidoo, describing him as a record-setter.
Ibrahim Bawah, leader of the Muslim staff at the facility, speaking on their behalf, said he has worked at the hospital for more than two and a half decades and that this was the first time he had seen a CEO empathise with and support Muslim staff during Ramadan with such a gesture.
This follows the CEO’s personal donation of assorted food items valued at GH¢20,000 to support Muslim staff during the holy month of Ramadan.
The gesture was also hailed by hospital management as the first time a KATH CEO has personally extended such support to Muslim staff.
Ibrahim Bawah, who led the Muslim staff to receive the items, described the donation as thoughtful and timely, emphasising that it reflects a strong sense of solidarity within the institution.
In response to the gesture, the Muslim community offered heartfelt prayers for Dr. Baidoo and his management team, seeking divine guidance and continued success in the day-to-day running of the hospital.
The donated items, which included boxes of Milo and sugar, bags of rice, and cartons of milk, were intended to assist Muslim staff in observing the fasting period with the support they need.
Speaking during the presentation, Dr Baidoo noted that Ramadan is a sacred period of prayer, sacrifice, and spiritual reflection that requires strong support for those observing it. He said the donation was specifically meant to encourage Muslim staff who continue to diligently perform their duties while fasting.
“Management is deeply committed to fostering an inclusive environment that respects the faith and welfare of all staff,” Dr Baidoo said.
He emphasised the importance of unity and compassion within the hospital’s diverse community.
Meanwhile, hospital management noted that the initiative aligns with KATH’s broader commitment to staff welfare, social responsibility, and promoting harmony among its diverse workforce, setting a new precedent for inclusive leadership.
