Police in the Ashanti region have charged seven people for stealing and conspiracy to steal in connection with the missing baby at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

They have however been released on bail.

The missing baby saga at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital sparked uproar between the hospital and the community in the area.

Some Doctors and Nurses even went on strike after they were attacked and beaten by some youth of the Zongo community where the parents of the missing baby reside.

ASP Muhammed Tanko of the Ashanti regional Police command speaking to XYZ News confirmed that the seven suspects have been charged but released on bail as investigations continue.

He added that the matter has been referred to the Attorney General’s department for direction and legal advice.

Meanwhile, the missing baby saga has attracted a lot of international attention.

A group of Ghanaians in the diaspora has joined the campaign to seek justice for the family of Suwaiba Abdul Mumin whose baby is yet to be traced after her delivery.

The OKomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital insists the baby was born dead.
