KLM Royal Dutch Airlines last week launched its seventh direct flight from Amsterdam to Accra As soon as the inaugural flight number KL 589 from Amsterdam touched down on Wednesday, March 28, 2001, heralding KLM's Seven Direct Flight services, the General Manager for Western Africa, Mr. Rob M. C. Westerman, flanked by his staff walked to the gangway to welcome the passengers.

To all glamour and colour to this great day, a very impressive ceremony was held amid drumming and dancing at the Kotoka International Airport by a cultural troupe. Mr. Guus Jonker, KLM director for Government and Industry who was the guest of honour, travelled all the way from head office for the inauguration.

From one flight a week in 1960, rendering uninterrupted service and the present seven direct flights a week, KLM is supporting government's effort in making Ghana the Gateway of Africa and promoting business between Africa and the rest of the world.
