KMA sacks three City Guards for misconduct

Kumasi, Feb. 19, GNA - The Kumasi Metropolitan Authority (KMA) has summarily dismissed three of its City Guards for misconduct. It has, additionally, referred them to the police for thorough investigation and possible prosecution. Diana Adutwumwaa, Osei Kwadwo Sarkodie and John Antwi, were said to hav= e embarked on an unauthorized exercise to impound a mini-Urvan bus at Adum on February 11, which went tragic.

Fierce struggle between them and the driver over the ignition key of the moving bus, led to an accident as the vehicle knocked down and badly injured a 19-year old student. The victim is now receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH). A statement signed by Mr Clement Kegeri of the KMA said 93a report submitted on the actions of the guards clearly indicated that, they engaged in an illegal activity that nearly cost the life of an innocent citizen." It warned of zero tolerance for acts of misconduct on the part of employees of the KMA, particularly the Task Force and City Guards. 19 Feb. 11
